Why drive for 40 hours in a 15 passenger van with 15 people? Only to get to some of the most amazing creation in the US! (And also to practice sandwich making in your lap and mass car sickness prevention skills.)
Our first stop was one hotel (of many), which to some of us was the height of adventure.
Now I know why people rave about Texas, and we only saw a small portion of it!
We also crossed the Glen Canyon Dam in Arizona. It was an amazing contrast between water and desert, earth and sky, blue and red.
We finally arrived at our cabin! Mr. Mike patiently humored us by learning all our juvenile card games.
The cabin was just a few miles from Duck Creek.
Aspen Mirror Lake completely lived up to its picturesque name. We returned multiple times to explore, have lunch, and fall into the creek.
No false advertising...see all the aspens?
And the lake at sunset, doing its mirror thing.
Rock formations both in Bryce National Park and even along the highway begged to be explored.
At Cedar Breaks, where the high altitude got to our heads and resulted in dangerous peering over cliffs, telling dumb jokes about breaking things, and accidentally throwing snowballs at other tourists.
We were so grateful to go on this trip and see God's handiwork!
